Yes you read that right! There is a free viewing deck atop the Peak Galleria sometimes called the Peak Galleria observation deck, which gives you great views without paying for the Sky Terrace 428.
Here’s how to get there, and some useful tips:
How to Get to the Free Observation Deck at Peak Galleria
- Getting to Victoria Peak
- By Bus: Take Bus 15 (or X15) from Exchange Square (Central) to the Peak Galleria terminus.
- By Minibus: Green Minibus Route 1 departs from Two IFC (MTR Hong Kong Station, Exit F) and goes up to the Peak Galleria.
- By Tram: You can also take the Peak Tram up to the upper terminus (Peak Tower) and then walk over to Galleria.
- By Foot: If you’re up for a hike, you can walk up from Central; routes are marked and lead up toward Mount Austin Road and the Peak area.
- Once You Arrive at Peak Galleria
- The Peak Galleria address is 118 Peak Road.
- Head up to Level 3 of the Galleria, that’s where the free observation deck is!
- From this deck, you’ll have good views both north (towards Victoria Harbour) and south (towards Pok Fu Lam Reservoir / South China Sea). Akthough some parts are slightly obstructed by the Peak Tower, but the view is still very nice.
Things to Note / Tips
- No fee to enter the Galleria observation deck.
- The Peak itself is a public place you don’t need to pay to go up to the Peak area, just for some of the paid attractions.
- From the deck, you can also walk to other free viewpoints: for example, Lion’s Pavilion is nearby and gives very nice photo spots.
- If you go by bus or minibus, the terminus is right at Galleria.
- Make sure to check the weather even though the deck is free, the view depends a lot on how clear the sky is.

- Why Go Here: Probably the “hidden gem” of The Peak, fewer crowds, free, and arguably better view than the paid terrace.

3. Lion’s Pavilion (Lion Point)
- Where: Near the end of the Lugard Road / Harlech Road walk, close to the Peak Tower.

- Findlay Road / Findlay Path: Near Findlay Road (芬梨道), there’s a “Lion’s Pavilion” area too.
- Early Mornings or Late Evenings: Some of these spots (Lugard Road, Lion’s Pavilion) are much more magical at sunrise or sunset.
- Photography Tip: Lugard Road has a natural rock outcrop where photographers set up tripods or simply rest to get a higher vantage point.
