Did you know that the Singapore flower dome holds the Guinness world record for the largest green house? It’s one thing seeing videos of this place online, it’s another thing visiting this place in person. Especially when you know you can visit it anytime of the year.

Since it is a climate-control environment, you can enjoy a cool environment even when you visit in the hotter months of the year. However, if you want to see the flowers in full bloom, the best time to visit is from late March to May or September to October.

Seeing my parents wander around the flower dome is one of the highlights of our visit. So whehter you travel alone and even with family or friends the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay absolutely needs to be on your itinerary

What Can You Expect Inside?

This 3-acre flower dome is divided into different regions as if tranporting you to different regions and different parts of the globe.

The garden has nine themes and each theme is meticulously designed showcasing a stunning array of flora in all corners of the globe. I am talking about the Mediterranean olive grove, my mom’s favorites the spiky succulents from Africa, the endless vibrant and beautiful tulips or orchids and my personal pick, the baobabs from Africa.

In the Australian Garden section, you’ll may find eucalyptus trees and kangaroo paw plants. And in the Mediterranean Garden section, you’ll see olive trees and lavender bushes.

The Flower Field Display

One of the highlights of the Flower Dome is its seasonal displays. Throughout the year, different flower shows are held here – from tulips in spring to poinsettias in winter.

But no matter what time of year you visit, there will always be a stunning display of flowers waiting for you. The dome’s team of horticulturists work tirelessly to ensure that there are always fresh blooms on show.

Getting There: Bus, Train, Taxi or Grab, You Choose!

The Flower Dome is within the Gardens by the Bay, a smack dab in the heart of Singapore. It’s part of the Bay South Garden, and you can easily find it near the Marina Bay waterfront.

Even for a solo adventurer, navigating Singapore’s public transport system is a breeze and accessible. That is why whether taking a bus or a train, it is very easy.

Take the Bus: Hop on buses #400, 400AR, or 963. All three will drop you off near the Bay South Garden entrance.

Take the Train: Take the MRT to Bayfront MRT Station. From there, it’s a short walk or you have the option take the shuttle bus to the Gardens.

When to Visit the Flower Dome?

Since Singapore’s weather is pretty consistent year-round – hot and humid, any time is a good time to visit. To avoid crows, visit on weekdays or in the early morning – or as soon as the garden opens.

What to Do: Breathe, Explore, and Be Amazed!

Here are some ideas to make the most of your solo adventure:

Become a Plant Detective: Brush up on your botanical knowledge! Each plant in the garden is laballed and some of the plants you haven’t even heard of.

Capture the Perfect Shot: The Flower Dome is an Instagrammer’s paradise. With unique cacti, vibrant flowers, and a cool, glass structure, you won’t be short of stunning backdrops for your solo travel pics.

Join a Guided Tour: Offered several times a day, these free tours are a great way to learn more about the Flower Dome’s design, plant selection, and interesting facts.

Stop and Take a Rest: It is no surprise especially for family with kids or older parents that few minutes of exploration would be exhausting. Don’t worry, there are several benches and chair available for your to rest. It is part of the journey.

Tips for Your Visit

Now that we’ve convinced you to add this attraction to your Singapore itinerary, here are a few tips for making the most of your visit:

• Give yourself at least 1-2 hours to explore the Flower Dome. There’s a lot to see!
• Wear your most comfortable shoes or sandals. It will take your at least 2 hours especially for plants that are so intereting that you only see them in books.
• Bring a camera, fully charged your iPhone or your Samsung phone and take fully charged power bank.
• Check out the daily programs schedule when you arrive and workshops happening during your visit.
• Don’t forget to wear your sunscreen. Even though you’re indoors, some areas might get direct sunlight.
• Get hydryted! Even with the cool temperature within the dome, bring a water bottle to last your entire visit.
• If you have enough energy after your visit to the Flower Dome, take some time to stroll through the rest of Gardens by the Bay.
• There are cafeterias and restuarants outside the flower dome. Get refreshment or take your time to rest before moving on to your next destination.

How Much Does it Cost?

Adult admission tickets to the Flower Dome cost around $28 SGD (Singapore dollars). You can purchase tickets online or at the venue itself. There are also combination deals that include entry to the Cloud Forest, another incredible attraction at Gardens by the Bay.
