Basilica Minore del Santo Niño

The story of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño started when Ferdinand Magellan arrived in Cebu 1521 and gifted the image of the Santo Niño to Queen Juana of Cebu and her husband, Rajah Humabon.

It is a mystery even to the local how the image remained unscathed when even after the original house was destroyed by fire.

The Basilica is located in the heart of Cebu City and can easily be accessibled by taxi or jeepney.

Magellan’s Cross

The cross inside the small yet elegant chapel is a symbol of the beginning of Christinanity in the Philippines when Ferdinand Magellan landed in Cebu in 1521.

Basilica Minore del Santo Niño or Magellan’s Cross is located in downtown Cebu which can easily be accessed by foot, taxi or even jeepney.

Heritage of Cebu Monument

Unveiled in 2000, the monument serves as a repesentation of the city’s evolution.

This monument depicts the lives and customs of the indigenous people who inhabited the islands long before to Don Vicente Rama’s contributions to the city’s development.

The is located in the Parian disctrict located near other historical landmarks making it easy to incorporate into your itinerary.

Yap San Diego Ancestral House

The Yap San Diego Ancestral House is one of the older residential structures in the Philippines which was built in the late 17th century.

Going into this house is like stepping back in time. It is interesting how well preserved the structure especially the interiors filled with antique furnitures.

Colon is the oldest national road in the Philippines it feels like stepping into the a living museum.

You will pass historical landmarks, buildings of the Spanish colonial era and a mix of vibrant modern-day Cebu spirit.

Expect this to be physically extensive activity especially when you don’t get to exercise daily. Make sure to stay hydryated, wear comfortable clothing and footware and dont forget to wear your sunscreen.

Fuente Osmena Circle

Commonly called Fuente by the locals, the fountain and the surrounding cityscape is a backdrop for a memorable visit to this area.

If you feel lost as a visitor in Cebu, you can never go wrong asking your ride or meet a friend in Fuente. It’s the central location which makes it the starting point of your exploration to Cebu City.

Capitol Site

You will find Cebu City provincial museum in the the Capitol Building. Right around this building is the Osmeña Boulevard and Fuente Osmeña Circle which makes it conventient for your city tour.
